(Also BTW I doubt that ProQuake gave you a Trojan? ProQuake is another Quake engine that is used a lot for both playing and hosting non-QuakeWorld.There have been rumors of there being a new Quake game for the last couple of months now. there's a bunch of servers out there already that you can use. Microsoft just purchased Bethesda and now Quake is starting to get more attention than before. You might want to reconsider why you want/need to host a server. For QuakeWorld, it's UDP on port 27500.)Ī couple of older threads about server hosting: (But you'll still have to do port forwarding. QuakeWorld is easier since it was made to be used as an Internet game server.
#QUAKE 1 STEAM CODE#
Just forwarding UDP on port 26000 is not going to be enough, unless you're using DarkPlaces or FTE - those two engines have rewritten their networking code to only use that one port, but other non-QuakeWorld servers use a ton of ports. If you're running a non-QuakeWorld server this can be difficult. Like the guys above said, you're always going to need to port-forward in your router setup.
